"It's just a thought and a thought can be changed." ~ Louise Hay

The above statement sounds simple and easy to do.

But having enough self awareness to realize that we are having a thought and feeling a certain way because of that thought, is a big accomplishment! Why is this so? Because we are so identified with our thoughts that we believe that that's who we are! The constant companionship of our mental chatter gives a false sense of security too.

Learning how to meditate is a time tested way to realize that we can detach from our thoughts and take the role of the Witness. If we practice enough, we don't need to close our eyes and focus to have this awareness. As we go about our daily activities we get better and better at realizing the link between the thoughts we are having and the way we are feeling. We know we can gently release the worm that is burrowing into our well being.

It is a great awakening to realize that we can consciously detach from a negative thought and  replace it with a positive one! We will feel better immediately! Transitioning from being a victim of our negative thinking to realizing the Divine Power we have all been given to consciously create our lives, is the journey we all signed up for.

So what is rumbling around in your mind at this moment? How do these thoughts make you feel? See if you can register the feeling as a physical sensation. Know now that you can let these thoughts go...they are not what determines your reality! You are much bigger than your mind! Allow those thoughts to be replaced by the loving, joyful and compassionate ones that are always whispering to you from the depths of your beautiful heart.

Peace.

Joan

  1. How these thoughts "feel" in the body are an incredible feedback to assist you in knowing whether you are in your humanness or in deeper consciousness. This is another way to step out of the mind and into the larger consciousness.

    1. Yes, thank you for emphasizing this point! We all tend to be so disconnected from how our bodies are emotionally resonating! Our bodies can be a great guide as we re-learn how to feel our feelings...

  3. Hi Joan, I love the concise and beautiful way you have illumined the wisdom teachings of Louise Hay. Isn't it amazing how thoughts can just buzz around and trigger all the default conditioned behavior that is established from childhood? The mind is a tricky thing and together with the human senses it can be so easy to fall in and out conscious thought awareness. I'd love to share your snippet on my blog and feature you as a guest blogger, but I'll wait to see if this is okay with you. Blessings of gratitude.

    1. Dear Holistic Sculptress: Love the name! Thank you so much for your feedback and also for adding your deep insight to the discussion here! I would feel honored to have you share this post on your blog.

Yes, you are so right...so easy to fall in and out of awareness of our thoughts! And so liberating when we remember to be conscious. Blessings on your journey into Presence! Namaste! Joan
